Frequently Asked Questions

I've never done tunisian crochet, what pattern do you recommend?

First I would suggest checking out the beginner tutorials here.

After you're familiar with the Tunisian simple stitch (Tss), the Tunisian Crochet Quick Start Collection is designed with beginners in mind and goes through all the basic stitches and techniques.

What hook do I need?

Every pattern has a suggested hook size for the recommended yarn listed on the pattern's webpage and within the pattern. Depending on your tension you might find that you need a larger or smaller hook than recommended. In general, tunisian crochet needs a hook at least 2 sizes bigger than what is recommended on the yarn band (otherwise the fabric is too dense).

How do you pronounce Aklori?

ACK-lori

It comes from a nickname I was given in college. Lori is one of those names that can't really be shortened so a friend decided to add to the beginning and it stuck.

Will patterns show up in my Ravelry Library?

No, this site is not affiliated with Ravelry so purchases do not show up in your Ravelry library. You can manually add it to your library by clicking on the "Add to library" button in the upper right corner of the pattern page on Ravelry. This will make it so you will see it when searching in your library. However, you'll need to download the file from the link in the email to access the pattern. You should save the email in case you need to download the pattern again in the future.

How do I use a coupon?

First add patterns to your cart. Next click on the "Checkout" button. A new window will pop up. Click on "Add Coupon" (just above the Paypal button) and new box will appear. Add your coupon code and the discount price should now be displayed. Do not checkout if you are not seeing the discount. I can't issue a refund after you complete checkout.

I get an error when trying to download my pattern?

Please check out Payhip's page on downloading. All patterns come as PDFs and sometimes the file size can be large if there are photo tutorials or it is a long pattern. Try downloading on a computer instead of your mobile device.

Do you have free patterns?

I do have a free blanket square pattern that was part of the 2021 tunisian crochet blanket CAL and the Spiral Tunisian Cowl is available from WeCrochet.com for free.

Otherwise, no. I do not self-publish free patterns. Creating well written designs is time intensive and my time has value. In addition to my time, it is not free to create these designs. Yarn and tech editing costs money. Having this website with all the tutorials costs money. Free patterns available from yarn companies are free because the yarn company compensates the designer. If you cannot afford to purchase a pattern from me, please ask your library to carry my book Exploring Tunisian Crochet.
